Our support team

Ultimately, we know that God makes the way for his purposes to be accomplished, and without Him we can do nothing of significance. (John 15:5) However, he allows us to be blessed by participating in his work. There are a number of individuals and organizations that are a blessing to - and we hope are blessed by - our adoption journey.

The prayerful support and financial contributions of our family and friends mean so much to us. The old saying goes "it takes a community to raise a child." We know that to be true from the three biological children we already have, and we now know that it also takes a community to adopt a child. We can’t begin to name all of the ways we are being supported by friends and family but here are a few: letters of support from friends and our pastor for home studies, agencies, and grant applications; family getting interviewed, finger printed, and running to Frankfort; friends helping with notarization, encouragement, and sharing information and experiences; financial contributions small and large; and of course the prayers that we covet and are so grateful for. As you can see we are unbelievably blessed with support! Thank you all!!! (And more are welcome!)

Naomi’s Fund. When we “officially” started our adoption journey – researching agencies, costs, etc. – the cost seemed daunting. Definitely something we could not handle on our own. (I guess that’s where faith comes in, right?) To make a long story short, some friends from church found out we were considering adoption and offered their support through an organization they started to help remove the financial burden on families wanting to adopt. Our whole relationship with Naomi’s Fund is unbelievable in itself (probably the subject of a future blog post), but the short of it is that through Naomi’s Fund, God made a way where – by common logic – there was no way. We cannot thank Naomi’s Fund enough and are blessed to be part of the Naomi’s Fund adoption community. Check out their website (link on our main page). We’ll keep you posted on future fundraising (and other) activities through Naomi’s Fund.

Lifesong for Orphans. Another long story short, Lifesong is an AWESOME organization that helps relieve the financial and administrative burdens on orphan care and adoption ministries. We applied for and received a $4,000 Matching Grant through Lifesong. Since we started our process, Naomi’s Fund is now an official partner of Lifesong. (And donations to support our adoption can now be sent to directly to Lifesong with “Naomi’s Fund/Shannonhouse” in the memo line or you can donate with PayPal through Lifesong’s website with “Naomi’s Fund/Shannonhouse” as the Purpose. Thanks!!!) Check out Lifesong’s website (link on our main page) for more information on all the wonderful things they are doing in the name of Christ for orphans.

Louisville Orphan Care Initiative. This is a local organization that focuses on orphan care and adoption initiatives in the Louisville area. LOCI provided the $4,000 for our Matching Grant through Lifesong. Check out LOCI’s website (link on our main page) for more information on all the great work they are doing in Christ’s name in the Louisville area.

There is one thing we believe now more than ever and cannot say enough: God will make a way. He has made a way for us and he will make a way for you. We can’t wait to be a part of YOUR community of support!
